I am so impressed with the handicap room we had. It was large and spotless. Very affordable, even for people like us that are on a fixed income. The continental breakfast was exactly what a person should expect for a continental breakfast. It included the usual selections plus a waffle maker. What more could you ask for? Very friendly staff. Centrally located. No problem giving this 5 stars.
The hotel is in a pleasant location in a very nice northern Michigan town.
The staff was really nice on the telephone and even nicer in person. Connie, who was on the desk when we arrived, told of us a good place to eat with very reasonable prices. The rooms were VERY clean as was the whole place. The beds were comfortable and the room was quiet. A great place to stay.
We found numerous long, black hairs on our clean towels and dried fecal material under the toilet lid and seat. The "hot breakfast" was only toast and a waffle machine. I shared my concerns with the woman at the desk who didn't say anything but wrote them down with the air of someone who had heard these complaints many times before.
With slim pickings for hotels in the area, we settled on this bare bones motel. While all I expected was a clean room, decent bed and a hot shower in the morning, this motel could not even fulfill the basics! The water barely spit out of the shower head and was not even enough to rinse the soap off my body. I had to soak a wash cloth numerous times to rinse my body. Forget washing your hair! As a woman with long hair, I did not even bother trying to wash it because I would have never gotten the soap out! This resulted in having to spend my entire day with dirty oily hair! If only I had known of this sooner, I would have checked out and gone to another hotel. ANY other hotel with a shower head that worked! Will never stay here again when in the area!
The rooms were clean. The service was decent. The breakfast bar could be better. Great for the price.
